Trivia

Olivier Assayas describes this as a companion piece of sorts to Die Wolken von Sils Maria (2014). In both films, Kristen Stewart plays a woman on the fringes of wealth and celebrity. See more »

Goofs

When Maureen is texting, her texts are frequently answered immediately, usually in less than one second. There is no time lag built in for the other person to read her text and type in their response. This goof is probably intentional. Building in a time lag for the other person to read/respond to her messages would considerably slow down the pacing of the movie, so responses to her texts were probably prepared in advance and sent immediately. Quotes

Maureen Cartwright: [talking about her deceased brother] So we made this oath... Whoever died first would send the other a sign.
Ingo: A sign? From- from the afterlife?
Maureen Cartwright: You could call it that; you could call it a million things.
Ingo: But... how do you know if it's a sign?
Maureen Cartwright: I'm a medium. He was- he was a medium. I'll just know it.
Ingo: Have you... communicated with spirits before?
Maureen Cartwright: Um. Lewis thought they were... spirits. I'm- I'm less sure. But yes. Uh, somewhat.
[gets off the couch to smoke]
Maureen Cartwright: I mean there are invisible... presences......

Confusing and slow
21 April 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The movie, "Personal Shopper," was recommended to me on some site, and the supernatural part of the plot sounded interesting. I got through it, but it was not pleasant. The story was convoluted, slow, and ended before explaining anything. It was like reading a second graders story, but only if you forced the second grader to write an entire manuscript; so many of things thrown in there that you thought they would eventually tie together somehow, then it simply ended... With a song that makes it seem like everything worked out.

Oh! And as the movie name describes, Kirsten is a Personal Shopper. Oddly enough though she is dressed almost like she's camping for the entire movie. Going to Cartier, Chanel, and clients homes with greasy hair and a T-shirt. So odd.

Don't watch this unless you like being bored and frustrated.
